During the resto process on my 72, I replaced the fan shroud. I don't remember which supplier
I bought it through but I'm wondering if I received the wrong one. During install, I had to
clearance (cut) the shroud on the bottom lip as the fan blades were rubbing. And just
last week I noticed that the top of the shroud is rubbing the underside of the hood. I have
checked to make sure that it's installed correctly. All the holes line up on the underside and
top mounting surface. It's almost like the portion of the shroud that surrounds the fan was
cast 2 - 3 inches too high. What do you guys think? Could it be that I got the wrong year
shroud? Were there different fan shrouds for the A-bodies in the 68 through 72 time-frame?
I can't install my RA Hood Pan until I get the right shroud because of the shroud height.
I'm reluctant to order another one until I figure this out.

Appreciate your thoughts.

I think 69-72 shrouds were the same. Are you using a stock fan? What about radiator? Did you ever have your radiator support off? If so did you have problems re-aligning your fenders and such? Was the support bent or twisted. Make sure the bushings and all the washers are in the correct locations on the top and bottom of the support. Sounds obvious but that's the stuff that gets over looked sometimes.

I agree with Scott. I had a the same issue with my fan hitting the bottom of the shroud until I replaced my support bushings. My fan is still pretty close but the new bushings made the diference.
