I was wondering if anyone has more luck with a certain company than others. I know they can vary greatly from one set to another so I was trying to see which company if any is favored. I cant seem to find any GM ones and the ones with my car are to far gone to save. Let me know what your experiences are please.

I purchased the repo fenders from PY for my 69 Firebird. Other threads have indicated many problems with fit and finish regarding these fenders.

However, my experience is that I was able to get them lined up pretty close, despite the fact that I have little experience with body work. Since then an experienced body man has looked them over and indicated he'd have little problem getting them perfect. He said for repo fenders they were actually quite good.

For what it's worth, those are my experiences..

Friend of mine bought 69 repop front fenders, he had problems lining them up so he had his originals fixed at a high cost , then he took the car to the paint shop...the painter decided it was easier to work w the the repos` instead after all!!! Said they were easier to work with...

What about repro fenders for 67-68 ? Which are best and is there more than one company making them ? I mean is every supplier a distributor for the same company ? pros and cons ?

I recently compared some Dynacorn fenders to my NOS fenders and can definitely say that the Dynacorn fenders had much crisper lines than the NOS fenders. I also compared them to some Goodmark fenders which were attrocious. I can't comment on fit other than the NOS fenders aren't as great as people would lead you to believe.

I'm told that Goodmark has recently released a new fender that is a much better stamping and may even be of the original thickness. Best advice is to make sure you're getting a recent stamping.

Agree that NOS sheetmetal can sometimes be very bad. Many of these panels were stamped long after the cars went out of production, when there was no check gage or incoming quality inspector to look at them. Off the press and into the box...

Also, service stampings were frequently produced on a different press (same dies, just different press) than the one that ran the parts for original production.

I have noticed that the "NOS" '67/'68 Firebird fenders seemed to have some fit issues that you don't see on cars wearing their original sheetmetal.

Who sells Dynacorn fenders ? How much are they ?

The Dynacorn fenders are sold by quite a few places and generally go for about $250 ea. I saw some recent Golden Legion (which I believe is the provider to Goodmark) fenders yesterday and they looked far better than the older Goodmark stampings I saw this summer.

I bought OER fenders from Classic. I have realized recently when attaching the park lights in the front that the LH,drivers fender has a 3/8 rise half way into the light. The RH is straight and lined up well. The LH is ............ I don't know what I will do now.

All - it has been about 7 months since this post. Does anyone have any additional info or experience on the quality of the repro (or NOS for that matter) fenders? It appears there are 4 options: Original, NOS, Goodmark, OE, and Dynacorn. If my originals were in great shape I wouldn' be posting this. I am willing to pony-up the extra for NOS, but I am hearing that even the NOS quality isn't that great. It looks like PY carries Goodmark as Goodmarks ship with the extension. Any info on whether or not Goodmark did indeed improve their stampings at some point?

I bought an NOS GM fender 4 years ago and have just been playing around with fitting it.....fits great (required very little fitting time) and looks just like an original. Dont know if I got lucky or ?

I have tried several with similar results. Fianlly I almost bought a pair of originals from Ames and an experienced bodyman gave me an alternative. He explained that it is always the lower area that makes people change these unless there has been an accident. JJ explained the top part is the hardest area to get correct. We went to his shop and he used an air saw and cut the lower section off at from the body line and replaced the lower section with generic replacements aboout three hours. After spotting the fenders in place inside and out, I went home and worked on the fenders for several weeks with my wire feed. Then ground the fenders smooth inside and out. The refit was perfect and everything was super easy to align. I figured my time and learning was far cheaper then the cost of the GM replacements. I also undercoated inside the fenders and this gave it the perfect finish. Most of the work was done on the car befor removing the fenders to finish the inside and paint. Real happy with the finished product since I did it my self. And the body lines lined up perfect compared to adding and removing shims and the 10 hours of nursing everything back into place. Just my opinion.

I bought two NOS fenders about two years ago. They line up very nicely even though they are not snugged up yet.

The ones I commented on were bought over a year ago,maybe 1.5 -2 yrs ago, they were Goodmark....no idea if the "new" are newer than that..
