There was a thread about cleaning the underside of your GTO or car. Someone brought up Marine Clean. Can you put this in your power washer or Do you pour it on the rear axles or under body and let it sit?

The underside of my 66 GTO is pretty grimy. I would like to get it cleaned and painted or sealed with POR 15 (Not POR 15 my axle). The Upper and Lower control arms will be powder coated.

I would also like to powder coat my gas tank.

Just for the record, Marine Clean is a bit pricier than othetr products that work just as well and that you don't have to order online. It is just a cleaner/degreaser, like many others available at WalMart, hardware stores etc.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't put it in your power washer. You can dilute it with water up to something like a 1:1 ratio, though for heavier deposits of grime, I prefer full strength. Might be best to power wash everything with plain water, which will get off the majority of the crud, then soak everything in Marine Clean/some other powerful cleaner, then hit it up with some stiff bristle brushes/wire brushes and then a rinse. Repeat as necessary.

If you buy the Marine Clean from Ames it comes with a sprayer. Spray and wipe with a terry cloth for best results. Also have a wire brush and 1" Puddy knife for stubborn grease and dirt. You only need it to sit for 1-3 min and the stuff comes right off. I thought the stuff worked great plus its non-toxic and non-petroleum based...easy to work with and will not cause paint bonding problems.
