Is it really necessary to put two sending units for water temp in a 72 Lemans with rally gauges? I got a hand writen wiring diagram that states that I need two sending units for water temp. Is this right?

One of the senders is for the gauge, the other is for the TCS system. I'll need to check out my old info but I believe it was there to advance the ignition timing when the coolant reached a certain temperature (near overheat) to help cool the engine down.

Hope this helps,
Lloyd

It isn't a stock Lemans It now has a non-vacuum advance dist. I now have a MSD Ignition. By not putting this sender in would it effect the gauges function? I just wanted to put the rally gauges in my car. Pretty much everything on the engine in aftermarket (intake, carb, ignition system exhaust etc). The only vaccum line I have is for the trans modulator!

You don't need the additional sending unit - just install the one sender for the gauge.

Later,
Lloyd
