When I changed to an HEI I ran a large wire from the ignition (IGN) post on the fuse box, to a toggle switch on the dash and then to the HEI terminal. This gives it 12 volts directly from the power box and a switch to turn off the power (no dieseling) and It allows me to start the car by switching off, letting the engine turn one or two times and switching on for an instant start. It also provides a small amount of theft proofing. Mark L
