My neighbor has a '99 Firebird w\ the V6, 39,900 miles and about 5 months past the warranty.
As he described it, it started leaking coolant between the top and bottom plenums. Has anybody else experienced this w\ a '99 V6? What resource is there for possible factory recalls? Thanks.

Top and bottom plenums? Are you referring to the intake manifold?

Well, the 3800 is a damn good motor. There might be a TSB on the gaskets. I have not known one to leak from there though.

Brian, I was thinking intake manifold but that's how my neighbor described it. Thanks FFCC.

if the manifold is plastic check it for cracks. there've been a few problems with that happening with the plastic intakes. mike

I am pretty sure there was a TSB (or recall?) on the FWD 3.8 L-36 for that problem.
I hope these links work- I havent used them for a while- Recall Database Search by Make, Model and Year: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/ Service Bulletins Database Search by Make, Model and Year http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/ |
