I am putting together my front bumper assembly complete and running into issues. Any pointers will help me immensly.
The car was in an accident and I bought OER parts from Classic. The LH or drivers fender has a bump up in the middle of where the park light installs. The RH doesn't. This doesn't belong there. The valance panel on the LH or drivers side has the hole pattern off by over half an inch. I paid a body shop to assemble everything last year but nothing lined up when I got the car back. They told me the guy doing the work quit and I needed to take my car. Being a dumbass I never hammered on them then. I took it apart 2 weeks ago to find brackets that were bent though they said they straightened them.Loose bolts, missing bolts and bolts in backwards etc. Then the problems with OEr'S/Classic's parts.Anyway after drilling and realigning things and straightening the brackets that mount to the frame I had all but the bumper and grilles and light buckets on the car. This is where I am stuck. I am now looking at it as if I need to assemble the whole thing separate from the car then attach the frame brackets and top corner bumpers last.Is this right? Please help. |

The bumper attaches as an assembly with the frame brackets and headlight buckets attached. It bolts to the frame and ties to the core support brackets through two rubber isolators. The headlight buckets have one screw that attaches to the core support. I would leave all the fasteners a little loose until you get in place then selectively tighten them.
It sounds like your LH fender may be for a Camaro. Those cars had a recess for a bumper bracket that was sandwhiched between the fender and fender extension in the same location that the FB parking light goes on a '68. John

And being I bought it over a year ago and it has been used I bet Classic won't do anything for me. I can't believe the body shop didn't say anything either. My luck. Thanks for your help.
