Hi All,

Thanks for the previous, great info! I have moved onto the next mindbender (maybe not). The previous owner's son removed the stock radio in my Lemans (Delco # 983687). I have the radio itself, both escutcheons (sp?), the washer like knobs, and the "cigarette lighter"-like knobs. Here's some pics of what I got:





Here's what I have been able to determine. I need to put a nut on, using the escutcheons as a brace on the dash exterior, to hold the radio to the dash.

- Does anyone know the thread specs? I found that it is slightly larger than 1/2 and smaller than 9/16. But, my local hardware stores have nothing that fits and I have been striking out using a Google search.

Let's say I get the escutcheons attached. How do I get the washer knobs to stay in place. I don't see signs of wear on the escutcheon and furthest out knob. Is there some sort of grommet/spacer combo that is used?

Finally, call me crazy, but I think that the black knob came from a different radio, it doesn't look stock. But, I did have a bowl of coo-koo flakes this morning.

Before getting too excited about the nuts, have you checked this radio to see if it works? They are easy to fix but from your description and choices of search, you may not be the one to do it. Tech sheets show up on Ebay sometimes. The nuts are the kind of thing that If a radio tech had a handfull they would not know the size, but if needed would go to a junk radio or TV chassis and take one because they are so common along with the washers for holding the switches, pots and tuning dials in old radios. Radio techs are not what or where they used to be cause nobody fixes anything any more, but you probably know old guys that have a lot of electronic junk and they would know what you need.
