New update 02-18-05

We pulled the motor down to check everything out and found the pistons still looked new. The heads chambers look just like we put them on too. Rings and rods and cam ok.

D.O.A. report:

The Eagle crank did not like the horse power at all. After 21 pulls it died. May it rest in peace. It cracked the crank around the main bearing area. All the main bearings look good. I knew that we were at risk using the crank in the motor from the beginning. Racers out there should keep in mind when putting that much Hp on a motor will loose the crank and maybe there car and life.

We were looking to test these heads for fit and function and durability only. And they passed with flying colors. We made good horse power for out of the box.

Now we will put all that we have learned to the production heads and give you a head that will make all of the power that you can use.

This process is called R&D.

AllPontiac is going to make only products that are quality from the start. We will post the complete set up in a few days on our site.

I would like to thank all of you for your input on this and all of our projects.

The bolt was holding a ground strap and came loose. The motor was so loud even with the doors shut you had to put your fingers in your ears. The camera sound pick up could not take the high level of sound and shut down the sound input down. You should have heard it coming out the roof mufflers. Frank was down the street and could hear it plainly and just smiled as he came in the shop and told us he heard it a block away. It was an animal.

Bob, have you tried flowing your heads at a higher depression like 30" to 60" of water?
If so what were the numbers?

Are you guys going to do any testing against a wide port e-head? I would think that would be more of an apples to apples comparison.

Slowbird, an E-head would not even start to compare to the Tiger Head. All of the money in the world would not make an E-head have the ability to keep up with this head in full race form. And E-head is tapped out at 370 cfm if you can even squeeze that out of it.

The unspoken thing about this test is the heat transfer of water to cool the head, worked. The exhaust temps we even and we had no detonation in the cylinders. The as cast head will live up to the promise of good power with out you spending an arm and a leg to have someone port this head. We put this port work in the head as cast.

We twisted a Eagle Crank on this test in 21 pulls. How that for power?

Here is a look at the intake ports as cast.

Bob, that is great news. Now for anyone who thinks the china cranks will live, this proves otherwise. At least you caught it and didn't mess anything up.

It is hard to tell by the picture but to me the ports don't look wide enough to require a 0.250" off set rocker arm.

Also been told they are only about 310 cc runner volume !

Interesting to compare, I have a set of 72cc Edelbrock castings that have the ports raised to match a tall 2.320" SCE gasket (a Felpro 1233 is about 2.200" tall) and using a 0.170" off set rocker they have been widened only enough to completely remove the pushrod bulge... they are not "wide port" heads by any means and the intake runner volume 234 cc's.
Also they have also been opened up to accomodate 2.150" intake valves.

I went back and read the HPP article about the prototype head and it stated the ports were 1.300 wide x 2.600 tall.

Again, hard to tell by the photo.

What does a ported E head flow at .600,.700 etc in comparison? I could not find anything in a search.

All Pontiac, I think you need to get on the horn with Eagle and convince them to get those Forged Cranks going. You can do it!!!
Tell them you are the Pontiac Santa Claus and that the people need more toys.

This i starting to sound like the old Fulper days! Remember when everyone was comparing the 'New' E-Heads with ported D's. There was no comparison! Two totally diferent heads! Let's get away from comparing them to the E-Heads. The E-Head is a street head! If you want a comparison try the Super Chiefs. But then again, why? These heads seem a lot more user friendly. Looks like my R&R E-Heads are going on my wifes street car, where they belong. Titanium valves and all. ... Eric

I agree, to compare is ludicrous! I have over $4500 wrapped up in a set of E-s that flow out over 370 and stay in relative step to the AP head to .600 lift. The comparison is all downhill from there. So, for the same money, way more flow!

For those of you asking for the comparison I have looked at my flow sheets and done all the math possible, consider this: It took a completely maxed out e-head to stay with the AP to a street performance lift level. There all comparison ended. If you are like me and 90% of the people I know out there you are more likely to upgrade/try to go faster than to tame down. Morale to the story: Buy the AP head if you plan to run fast at all! It allows you future expansion possibilities and it costs no more money!

What more could you possibly ask for?

Thanks Bob for helping our sport!
