Just joined this forum have been reading on it for a few days seems you guy's are very helpful and patient, what are the differences between Headman 3 tube and 4 tube headers, flow,torque,etc running a 455, mild build Thaks for the info...Randy

Not ever having the chance to compare them directly I can say on paper the benefits of separating all the exhaust ports from each other is pretty apparent so definitely use 4 tube headers when possible. I believe the 3 tube headers were probably made for an easier fit.

With a mild engine you really won't realize much if any performance benifit with 4 tube headers. Depending on where you end up with your engine setup you may even be better off with Ram Air III manifolds, as far as noise and rust issues are concerned. All depends on your other go fast goodies as to whether you really need headers.

Had a pair of 3-tubes on my 70 GTO. It has a Turbo 400 and they fit fine. Probably just have to remove the usual stuff on the passenger side like the oil filter adapter and maybe the trans. lines. I believe the drivers side slid right in without removing anything. I think that I may have raised the motor slightly also. The car has a mild 455 and I ran low 12's with those headers.

Thanks for the help, my car has what I believe to be around 1973 to 74 heads will be checking the numbers this weekend thanks to you guy's listing the numbers,the have had extensive porting, bronze guides, roller rockers,Arp big block chevy screw in studs,ten degree keepers,double springs with oil damping spring, milled 30thous,(I think!)bored 30 over,balanced,Pro billet Msd with 6al, cam is Elelbrock 7157??with a Bill mitchell 750,on a Rpm performer was a kit Eldelbrock offered 5 years ago when I built it wish I had a computer and your forum then!!! I think the next thing on my list is a custom ground cam car run 13.40's @103.mph with 3.08 gear full exhust on BF drag radials, have since went to 3.73 haven't been to the track with those, after reading about you guy's my car seems slow as hell?? open for ideas and or constructive critism...Thanks for the help ..Randy
