From the looks of that 68 vent window in the door, I would surmise that the car in the picture might be bogus?

My observation during the last 6 - 8 months leads me to believe the GTO market is no longer to the average white collar man or woman, its now entering a higher socio economic level. I`m not so sure of a price drop anytime soon like the model T because of baby boomers expiring from age, retirement, etc. I am on the tail end of the boomer generation at 41. I`m keeping my 70` that i`ve had for four years. Its been better than my stocks by far. Younger folks may want to consider an 04 or 05 GTO

Looks like this auction ended at $197,000 and didn't meet the reserve!!! Hard to believe someone wouldn't take almost $200K for this car, albiet apparently a very nice one as shown. This kind of pricing will result in alot of clones appearing on the market, since I've seen even those class of vehicles going for obscene prices once the real ones go for these astronomical prices (like the Hemi Cuda clones). I guess my lifelong dream of owning a Judge convertible will have to wait for another lifetime!!

I would think for that kind of cash he would not have installed a repro.fan shroud. How could people bid on something like this without seein' it for real?

That car was at the Garden State GTO show last October. Car was nice, but wasn't perfect. For $180,000 I wold expect perfect, but that's just me. I don't know the owner, but I heard he was very upset that his car didn't win the show (came in Third, I believe).

I love this site and CP's forum but I can't stand the crybaby stuff about prices too high. SWEETJUDGE says the younger generation will never get to enjoy the hobby because of high prices - but he can make a dream come true for some young guy by selling his Judge for a cheap price! As a matter of fact my son would love to buy a Judge at a price of 10-15 years ago. SWEET ... are you offering? You see what gets me is this ... we all want to BUY at cheap prices but SELL at the highest prices. Hypocritical is all this complaining is.

As for putting down Tony from Custom Classics ... I've never bought a car from him (and either has ANYONE ELSE that has put him down on both boards) but I have known him personally for the past 4 years and spent alot of time with him. A lot of time and I've seen how he coaches kids (my son wrestles for him) and he is a great influence on young men. Puts countless hours in for NO $$$.

I know that doesn't mean anything about his selling cars ... but it DOES MEAN MORE THAN SOME RUMORS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER BOUGHT A CAR FROM HIM OR SPENT ANY TIME WITH HIM!

I've seen his cars. Expensive ... yes. Overpriced ... maybe. But that means I don't buy the car ... it doens't mean I malicicously badmouth him. I don't buy a 430 Ferrari Spyder either ... but I don't call the owner of the Ferrari dealership all sorts of names.

For all of you crybabies about today's prices ... sell me your GTO's for prices of even 5 years ago and I'm buying and you'll be doing the hobby good by giving access to more people!

Yeah right ... like that'll happen.

if the market for these cars are going up which they are, i really dont have a problem but, to me when a nothing special JUDGE is 105K with NONE of the original GM parts on it. (ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED) than the monkeys think there junkers are worth 30K
how would you like to buy that shell for 20K would you?
Im NOT knocking anyone GOD BLESS him if gets that kind of money for those cars.
I would actually like to meet him.
im 34 & kill myself to put food on the table & roof over the kids, what little money left over if the fricken taxman doesnt take it, goes to my hobby.
Now even the smallest of parts (which normally was thrown away is NOW ASTRONOMICAL in price

IF THE CARS ARE EXPENSIVE THEN SO ARE THE PARTS

70ramair455, I saw a thread similar to this on the CP site 2 months ago. Judging by your posts on that site, I'm not gonna hold your esteem of this guy in high regard. Let him defend himself.

SPARTAN - obviously you can't read. I'm the one saying that the prices are what the prices are and stop moaning about it. Everyone who says prices are "too high" will be the first ones asking astronomical prices for their Goats. Just like RACERBOY wants $65K for his Judge hardtop which last year was $45K and 5 years ago could have been had for $20K or so. That's just the way it goes.

As far as your opinion on Tony. You have bought how many cars from him? Your friends (that you know personally) have bought how many cars from him? I rest my case. BTW, what about my posts on CP bothered you? I just told people what I know about the man after spending four years with him. And you're going to give more credence to opinions of those who have NEVER MET HIM but think he's a @#$##$$ because of high car prices? You rather listen to rumors than facts? I bet you wouldn't want that to be the way others think of you.

I will defend anyone I know personally to those who have no personal experience with them. You wouldn't do the same for those you know?

If you know the owner of Custom Classic
GTO , please enlighten us about his operation
further...Is he the owner of these 750,000 dollar
GTO's or does he just broker them? Is he actually restoring these cars or paying someone
to restore them? I visited the website and was puzzled by it. If he actually owned all the cars
listed and is selling them for these prices I
assume maybe he is the long lost brother of Donald Trump? I believe you when you say that he
is a great soccer dad, but you have got to admit
that asking 3/4 million for a GTO and referring to the sum as a sound investment does smell kind of fishy?! Am I to believe that he has
700,000 dollars tied up in the car and he is just seeking a small compensation for all his hard work?

seems like you could start with a piece of window glass and build a gto showcar around it for far less than $750k

Nothing like adding a little fuel to the fire.
This really sounds to me more like it's a case of those who have and those who have not. Let the games begin.

I know Tony of Custom classic GTO. Your right robably no one on this board bought a car from him, however, I came as close as you can without buying. I was on my way to meet him with a big $$ check. I received from 3rd negative call in the car fron someone that had purchased a car from him. 2 of these people purchased from him when he was still in FL.

He might be a great family man, but lots of horror stories, not to mention his inflated sale prices (by the way, ask him for the names and numbers of the "buyers " of these big buck GTO's. You won't get them. Because they don't exist.

He chased me for weeks begging me to still consider doing business with him. When I told him I found a 69 Judge original owner in #2 condition, all docs, less than half his price.... he called me a liar and hung up on me.

Would you buy a car from this man ??

Sounds like a lot of bitter people dicussing this Tony fellow whom I don`t know. Simple, if you don`t have the money your not buying. If you can`t afford one from someone else, your not buying it either. Heres some good advice to the young, stay in school, college, don`t blow your money on foolishness and maybe one day you can own a 69 -70 Judge. Yes, prices are going up and no one can stop the trend.

To GTOHURST:

As far as I know he is not a reso man so all his work is sent out to professionals. As for the $750,000 car I cannot tell you what he got for it since it's not really my place. Last I heard in America one can ask for any price they want as you and I will when we sell our cars and houses. Correct? Who can argue that. This is his ONLY BUSINESS so he is not in it all day and night to make some small compensation for his time. Last I heard everyone on this forum would take every opportunity to maximize their job and business income. NO? There's nothing to be puzzled about. He spends his entire life hunting down cars, parts, sellers, buyers, resto shops, financing, etc etc. He is in it to make money. I think I can say that without spilling some secret. LOL

To CLAYMARSH:

You are 100% correct. BUT, you've got to find an all orignal numbers matching RA IV Judge convetible first! The last one on CP for $40,000 last week (basket case) was a hoax and EVERYONE WANTED A $40,000 Basket case. DO YOU KNOW WHY???? I'll tell you ... because of Tony's setting the market. Hmmm ... everyone wants to profit but nobody wants Tony to profit. Hmmmm ...

To SCORPIO:
You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Good job.

Meanwhile ... not one person has offered to sell me their car for prices 5 years ago!! I can't believe it!! What's up??

Grow up and let the man be. He's is harassed constantly and needlessly. Let's act with charity. How's about it Pontiac friends?

I agree that anyone can ask any price that they want for their GTO, house, services or any other thing. That is free market capitalism. BUT, when you adverise prices that these items (in Tony's case GTOs) were sold at, then it becomes critically important that the prices are legitimate and not inflated. To do otherwise would be fraudulent. I'm not saying these cars were not sold as advertised, but I believe it is entirely reasonable for questions to be asked, especially, "Who were these buyers?"
