I'm going to swap my ported D ports for a set of fully prepped 325cfm E-heads. The motor is a JBP 474" and makes 610hp and runs 10.2's consistently in my 68 Bird. Block is o-ringed. Planning to use Butler Gaskets, IA Round Port Headers, Comp camshaft matched to new heads, and my Victor topped with a 1250 CFM Pro Systems Dominator. Are there any watch-outs or assy recommendations you may have? Thanks in advance.

68 Firebird. 1.38 60', 10.01 & 133mph. 474 stroker. All motor.

Aaron, I assume you're using studs for the heads. Be careful, Edlebrock changed from the sooo-many lengths to just several recently, and you have to have the right set, based on when the heads were made.
..Didn't you have me covered by enough?

Also ARP hasn't come out with a stud kit for the new heads so you have to buy all of the studs individually which gets pricey. If you already had studs you could re-use the washers & nuts which would save you some money. Your car should be flying with your new set-up keep us posted.

Antiseize spark plugs and any bolts threaded into heads. You might want to start the center header bolts that have the enlongated holes in the flange before header installation. No twelve point sockets If Edelbrock bolts are used!!!!!

Thanks for the info guys. I purchased the head bolts from KRE. Jeff built the heads in 2000 and provided me with a custom set of ARP head studs (6 diff. lengths) I'm hoping to pick-up 50-75hp and 3-4 tenths with the change. We'll see. Tuning, tuning, tuning...
