My 73 Formula has some small rust holes in the area of the cowl under the plastic screen( below where the wipers mount). I was wondering if these holes in the dash could be fixed w/o welding. Is there was something waterproof and rustproof I could use to fill these pinholes in the dash(metal filler, brazing, fiberglass)? Could I fill them w/something and then coat it w/POR15? Thanks for the help. CTC

Clean area with wire brush and then paint with POR 15 prior to filling the holes with any filler!

por-15 also makes a 2-part putty and they also make "patch" basically thick por-15 in a toothpaste type tube that should fill in those holes. I'm not sure how large a hole you could fill with these products. Maybe someone reading this knows.
Anyway, hope this helps. Jamie

Thanks 2FAST4U and 69goatboy. The largest of the rust holes is around 1/4" to 1/2" wide. I checked out the POR-15 website and ordered a catalog.

I have the same problem on a 74 SD the hole in mine was a little larger though. I tried a couple of things but ended up cutting that area out of a doner car. Was not that difficult to patch in and it's not going to cause a problem later. Julian

The POR 2 part epoxy putty is great stuff. You can smooth it out with you fingers, and it dries as hard as a rock.
POR the surface, put on the putty, then POR or paint over it. DC |

73Formula400. Where in Alabama? I live in Pleasant Grove, just west of Bham. My profile says Pelham, where my office is.

David, I'm in Centre, AL. It's about 30 miles from Gadsden. Sorry about the long reply, I haven't been on the computer since last week.
