Looking at having my TH-350 in my 69 Fbird rebuilt.. any suggestions? The car is a stock 350, 2 barrel and will be remaining as such, for originality reasons. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated... and also, typical costs of the rebuild, with me dropping the trans off at the shop. Thanks much, George

Hey George, me again. Do a search here using either "TH350" or "350", and everthing you can imagine will pop up. Read thru all the posts and print copies of the ones you want to refer to in detail. When I did my research, I hilighted the posts I needed, with the mouse I right clicked "copy", opened up Word, and pasted.
I then cleaned up the word document for future easy reference. I now have a nice section all dedicated to the TH350 in my "Bible".

I just had a B&M shift kit put in my 72 and it shifted hard. Chirped the tires each shift.

1968 GTO-Waiting restoration/modification once the 72 is done. I have plans for this one!

1972 LeMans-Endura option, 350/TH350 with a 455/TH400 being built (Edelbrock heads, RPM intake, Eagle rods, RAIV headers-If anyone has these parts-email me!)

"What? And leave the car stock?"

The exact items needed and course of action for rebuilding will depend on the year/model of the TH350. I would recomend having a FULL set of bushings and thrust washers installed, all new steels/frictions/new band, both roller clutches, modulator and shift kit. Use Raybestos or Borg Warner clutch material, avoid any relined frictions or band. Replace all the sealing rings and check the case lugs in the center support area for wear. The TH350 does not need a lot of tricks. I would not disable the accumulators or remove the springs as recomended in many shift kits. Do not remove the waved apply ring for the int clutch. Use the correct apply pistons for maximum clutch capacity in each drum. If you want to increase the strength of the low sprag you can install a center support/sprag from an 87-up 4L60 trans. I have TH350's behind 455's running well into the 10's without any troubles other than occassionally snapping off the case at the bellhousing area. They seem to be weak in that area, but no concerns behind the 350 engine.....Cliff
