This one doesn;t idle as strong, may lose some off-idle 60foot capability ;

Since yo have a .030 455, then the second manifold is better for the full RPM range.

I have the first one. I'm gonna do a port match and run it. I got a deal on it plus I have a shaker and it's supposed to be a good fit.

Since I have a shaker I'm glad I have the first one. I don't plan on spinning it that high since it has cast reconditioned rods and forged pistons.(I did have the bottom end balanced) Do you think a port match along with mild porting of my 6x's would be worth anything? I was wondering because I guess this is a restrictive intake. I'm looking for good off-idle grunt. The cam choice is still up in the air. I want an authoritative idle but I also want good low end pull. I have 3.08's and a TH350 and a TH400. I also have a 3.42 gear set but I'm thinking the 3.08's will be nice on the freeway!
Sorry for the double post. Service is slow tonight... http://motorhead.iwarp.com .030 over 455. Balanced and blue-painted.

I've always leaned towards the Torker IIs for all but sub-10s. Tweaked of course.

What a bunch of homos. So will this Performer intake be any good or will it kill any advantage I may gain with ported heads? (Oh yea, I got it for $20 )

A friend that we race with runs a '64 Tempest (weighs about 3800# w/driver) with a 455, it has ported (probably a street-port job) 6X heads and a Performer intake along with a Holley carb (not sure but I think an 850). The car runs in the 12-teens at 2800 ft. altitude with a hydraulic 236 degree cam, 4.10 gears and 9X29.5 slicks, the Performer can't be choking it too badly. Guy Mazza used to run an un-modified Performer/750 DP Holley on a 455 with bone-stock #16 heads and a RAIV cam/1.6 rockers in his '69 GTO. No port-matching or clean-up at all. The car has 4.10 gears and 10.2X29.5 slicks and weighed about 3600# w/driver, ran high 11s at near sea-level and 12.30s at a 2800 ft. altitude. The Performer intake works good, use it with confidence.
