what manual trans does everyone prefer and why. i am looking at either a saginaw, muncie or a borg warner super t-10.. thanks for any input....burbl

Which is the best trans depends on:
1. What your going to use it for 2. How much your willing to spend 3. How often do you want to repair it 4. What is your ET and MPH in the 1/4 5. How much your car weighs 6. Do you run slicks or just street tires Tim C

my car weighs under 3000lbs, can spend up to 1500 on the trans. it will be a daily driver, roadracer, and strip car. i dont mind doing repair every once and a while. and will be running both street and slicks on my car.

Jerico and use 2yr SAC financing. Seriously, for $1500 you can get a new ST10 and have some left over for a shifter. If you can spend a little more then a "new" Muncie would be the next step up.

with this car i will be doing highway driving and dont like doing 3500rpm's at 75mph. how much wear and tear will this do to the engine? the other thing i can do is get a 5 speed but are there any for under 1500? thanks.

I run an aftermarket T56 six speed in my 455 engined Formula. Not quite going to meet your $1500 budget, but if you want a road racer, this transmission is great (double overdrive with good first gear ratio). Factory rated max torque is 450 lbs ft. My engine is making over that, but I don't drag race the car (anymore). The engine has so much torque that I can stick it in 6th at 1000rpm (about 30mph) and pull away with no fuss.

i have a 400 and my rear eng gear is 3.54 now and will change to 3.7 if or when i get a LSD for it. how much is the after market T-56? thanks
