Hi,
I want to use a mech. fuel pump with a 1/2 fuel line (rear to front). My engine produces 400 hp and is street used. Is it correct to join a 1/2 line to a smaller inlet of a pump (3/8 or 1/4) or the best is to enlarge the inlet of the pump ? If this 1/2 inlet pump that doesn't require regulator exists (6-8 psi Thanks. |

I'd say you're going to have a hard time moving that volume of fuel with a mechanical. You might consider an electric "pusher" pump back at the tank.

400 HP? You dont need anything more than the stock fuel system. Beleive it or not a guy here races a 70 judge that has run a best of 10.94 with a bone stock fuel system. Hes making close to 600 HP. Spend your money elsewhere.

I agree with Bruce. My car just dynoed at 420 hp at the rear wheels and I am just using the stock fuel line setup with a Carter mechanical pump..no problems.

Really need to looks at the fact that it might be hard to keep the Bowl full on your carb especially if its a Q-Jet, they are the worst to keep full, and a Mechanical pump might not do the job.
