i am going to rebauild the suspension of my 1979 trans am. i looked into polygraphite bushings throught pst. almost 400 bucks compared to 170 from summit. the summits bushings are not polygraphite but polyurethane. i have heard squeaking is the only true disadvantage between the 2. is there any way to stop this with the polyurethane bushings?? is there any type of grease that really works and stops squeaks for the life of bushings??

first I would ask what are you trying to do with the car? if you are just looking to rebuild it an d keep it mostly stock just put in new rubber there is no maintenance and will last for years.
ps, let the poly VS rubber debate begin

I Have Had a few bouts with PST stuff and I can say That The Urethane only bushings Silicone Grease is Supposed to be the best. I bought The Poly graphite Kit from Pst and No Squeeks from the front end. Very Nice ride. The Town fare Tire center Ripped a bushing out trying to align the Car. I called Pst and The next day had 2 replacement bushings at my door. They DO Stand behind thier Kits in my experience. The Summit stuff Im sure is Good. Ill bet its Made By PST and Has Summits name on it.Thats How it has been with most of my summit Brand Parts. They are all Top Quality Parts for reasonable prices. The plus to Summit parts is They always Send you gaskets and good fasteners with the part if they come off to put the part on summit sends a Goody bag with Brand new Bolts screws whatever it needs.

is the summit kit every thing i need to rebuild the front suspension?? i guess what i mean do both kits contain the same bushings?? or does one require you to have to buy more for a complete rebuild??

Samson, can you provide the part numbers of the two kits you are looking at from each company (Summit and PST)? I'll take a look and let you know what I think...usually those companies itemize what each kit contains.

PST- its the super front end kit for the firebird (my car is a 1979 trans am) is the regular polygraphite front rebuild kit good enough? thanks a lot |

I bought the SUper front end kit and It had All the Bushings and Ball joints. Its Didnt have A pitman Arm Tie rods or center link though. If you gonna Take the time to Do the Bushings You might as well Change the Tie rods Center link and pitman arm also. I maybe Wrong About what the Kit comes with Now Since I bought mine 10 years ago or so. I was very happy with the PST kit I can say that.

Dont Do your final torque of the A Arms and Everything else with the car up in air. Made a big mistake there!!!!! Car looked like a Reverse Low rider!!!! Front end was Miles High.
I thought it was the new springs but then I found out my mistake. Something to Keep in mind. That mistake cost me a lot of headaches including a Ripped/Pulled out Bushing {The Guys at Town Fair Tire DiD this} I opened the hood 1 day after the alinment and say the Bushing was All messed up. COuldnt Prove it was them. Another lesson Once you get it alinged Check it out Before you Drive away. I wasted 17 hours and a torch fill 80$ just because I didnt check thier work!!! Please dont make the same mistakes as me. AFter That I Lost alot of Interest in the car! I was Mad. The car was cursed anyway! It came From a Devorce the Woman sold it on her husband! It came with a 4.11 detroited locked 8.5 Thats going into my CUrrent lemans. It had a TH 350 Built up and a ram air III 4oo plus cubes with an 850 Double Pumper and Torker Intake. The Car was seriously Fast and It was Drag Raced. Well Can U guess what Happened To it? My ex wife sold it on me During a Devorce so lets Just say The Car is bad luck!!!!

THANK GOD THEY ONLY GOT A BLOWN {BAD BEARING} 72 350 IN THE CAR AND NOT MY RAM AIR III engine!!!!!!
