This motor was pulled from a 1970 Firebird Espirit, so I'm told. On the block under the distributor it reads, " 70 C100 D N 4 ". I believe this tells me that it was produced in 1970 on March 10. Just above the oil filter these numbers are found " 9199916 " What do these numbers mean?
The heads have the following " D N D070 96 " What does this mean?
The intake is a 4bbl with these numbers 525355. Is this original? If not, what year?
Also, the 4-speed trans. has the following markings GM 11 3952847 G 20 3 and on the other sideGM 9 onthe tail piece 326558 GM 14
I'm told this is a 350 with a Saginaw trans. Is this true? I know there were no 4bbl 350's built in 1970, so I am guessing that someone put a 4bbl on a 350? right?
Thank you all for your help in advance, I would be real happy if someone were to tell me this is a 400 (I think I'm dreaming)

Block casting number sounds like it might be 9799916, which is a 1970 Pontiac 350. The heads should have had an 11 cast into the center ports. Your head casting number 96 seems off with a casting date of D070 as the 96's were used on 1971 400 engines. Intake casting number 525355 is a 1976 or '77 4 BBL intake (should have an EGR valve on it). The transmission I can't help you on.

You are right! 'Held for Ransom'.
Upon further inspection the block casting # is 9799916. Yes the intake has an EGR, but, I cannot find the '11' on the heads. You mentioned that the 96 heads were on 1971 400's, are these good heads with big valves? Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
