The generator light on my 68 came on the other morning. I changed the alternator and the voltage regulator and the light now goes off, but only if the motor is reving above 1500 rpm. Any ideas?
Thanks, Unchained

Is the alternator pulley size the same on the replacement alternator? Check the wire at terminal 3 of the regulator; it should have battery voltage on it, key on or off. Also make sure the belt is not slipping.
BTW, under what conditions did the light come on with the older parts? This may give us a clue as to what failed. Regards, George

The new pully is the same size as the old one and the belt is tight. I did not rev the engine up when I found the problem so it may have been doing the same thing with the old parts. Prior to that the last time I drove the car the light did come on at start up, but went off when I tapped the gas. At that time it stayed off and operated as normal.
Thanks, Unchained
