while mounting ign.coil on my 70 GTO,I broke lead of cap. auto parts listed a condensor, points and a resistor.the oem cap.I had looked very simalar to the condensor they offered. can I use this as a capacitor for ign,coil?

thought I was wrong once.......but I was mistakin

A condensor and capasitor are the same thing. They might look the same size but probably have different values.

As 61man said, they are the same thing. "Condenser" was the old name. MAke sure you are getting the right part for the application, i.e. some cars had a external capacitor on the (+) side of the ignition coil for radio noise suppression. The two may have different electrical values.

we have established the fact my car came with external cap. mounted on the coil bracket & to + side of ign.coil.worse case senario for using condensor as coil cap. I get static thru my radio speakers? I can live with that. how boutthese values? anyone know the diff. between the 2? I will double check them to see if it is stamped on.
