I just went to the track over the weekend and here is what I ran in a 4-speed 67 GTO in full street trim, full tank of gas, street tires, through the mufflers. Track is at 2700 ft and there was a headwind of 5-10.
1st run R/T: .833 60': 2.466 1/4: 13.169 MPH: 112.62 2nd run R/T: .686 60': 2.276 1/4: 13.033 MPH: 110.83 What do you think my car is capable of with some traction and a little practice driving? |

I'm curious to know more about your engine combo. I ran a 4-speed tri-power '66 GTO with a 455 (essentially stock) at the track here in Tucson (3075 ft.) and had 60 ft. times as low as 1.95, but never ran faster than 101 or quicker than about 13.80. I assume traction must be a big issue for you when I compare your 60 ft. times to your 1/4 mile E.T.'s and speeds.

Sorry for the delay on responding about my combo but here it is.
Engine: JBP shortblock kit (461) assembled at home with the following parts: -400 block -4.25" stroke crank -Eagle 6.8" BB chevy rods -Ross dished pistons w/ Total Seal conventional rings. -Edelbrock 72cc heads -Ultradyne hydraulic 247/247 @ .050, .530 lift. -Torker II intake w/ 850 demon carb. -Dougs headers I don't know how much the car weighs, but it is more or less stock except for I am running HO racing lowering springs and front/rear sway bars and 255/50-16 BFG's in back and 225/50-16 up front. Rear end gearing is 3.70. |

1st run
R/T: .833 60': 2.466 1/4: 13.169 MPH: 112.62 WOW, almost unbelieveable? A 2.466 lousy 60ft time...no traction at all combined with A 112.62 MPH at only 13.1's?? you got yourself a hell of a midrange there! With those MPH's you should be low 12's easy. Get some tires. http://www.kingofgtos.com/index.htm

Get some tires.
I know that feeling...went to the track Sunday, the rim's with the ET Streets would not fits (rubbed the disc brakes) so I had to run with BF Goodrich street tires. R/T 6.1 (Not bad for my first pass in 32 years and a pro tree) 60' 2.242 1/4 13.30 MPH 107 Bought some ney Weld Wheels and mounted the M/T Streets on them yesterday, so the next trip should be much better.... http://www.dannys65gto.com http://kurtspontiac.homestead.com/dannys65gto.html
