Hey guys,
With my little GTO project, I inherited 2 rearends. One is labeled with with a WF and the other with a WD. I believe these to be a .293 and .323. With a 400 HO and 4 speed manual tranny, which rearend would be the best. Thanks in advance, matt |

The 3.23 gears would be just about ideal for a 400 HO-powered 4-speed car. I have a '69 400 (non-HO with A/C) 4-speed Firebird that came with 3.23 gears from the factory, just a slight amount of clutch slipping is needed to get moving from a stop.
The 2.93 gears would be a bit too tall, you would have to slip the clutch excessively to get going from a stop. If you had 3.55 gears they would be even better, but between the two gears you have to choose from 3.23s are no doubt the way to go. Let's go racing! www.outlawpontiacs.com/members/B-Man2.php www.outlawpontiacs.com/members/B-Man.php
