To all '68 Firebird Conv Owners:

A project is currently underway to reproduce the Bracket required for mounting the Dampener
(cocktail shaker) to the Front Fender Skirt. This is a '68 only bracket.

68 Firebird Conv Frt Dampener Mounting

To ensure accuracy, we would like to verify the dimensions for this bracket. If you have one that is still in relatively good shape (not bent) or can check an installed one, the dimensions needed are:

1) Mounting hole diameters (one hole each end; to Skirt & Extension)
(I believe this is a clearance hole for a 5/16-18 screw)... approx. 11/32 dia.)

2) Location of mounting holes (length-wise) including distance to weld-nut hole on riser
(appear to be 3/8 from end to center; each end and 1.50 center of front hole to weld-nut hole)

3) Fastener Size:
Screw from Dampener to Bracket- 3/8-16
Screw from Bracket to Fender Extension U-Nut: 5/16-18
Screw from Dampener Side Brackets to Radiator Support: 3/8-16

If you're interested in a set (or one) of these Brackets, e-mail me off-list for details.

Thank you,

It may take me a while to dig it out of the storage locker, but I know I have one for the driver side (69 Bird). I've been looking for the passenger side bracket for a long time. I'll let you know when I dig the part out of storage.

Mark
