I figured I would get a head start before my full quaters get here ,last year I found a nasty rust/rot area ,I wanted to patch the package tray but I found that under the panel between rear window ,and the deck lid it was pretty shot ,I decided it would be better to find a donor and remove ,trim down ,then weld the package tray in like a replacement panel, after alot of measurement's ,and some un-necessary tack welded bracing ,here are the results.

Nice! I am in the middle of that same project on my 67. I was real surprised at the condition of the framework under the panel I replaced. Cleaned it up and gave it two coats of industrial enamel to keep the metal protected. Hard to believe the factory left it bare metal under there. irgoatmike

My thought's exactly ,I'm suprised how well the job went,I thought it would take longer, I took alot of measurement's for reference ,I hope the new quater's are made well enough for an easy replacement,we'll see..

It doesn't surprise me a bit. You realize that these cars were not meant to last as long as we're making them last. John DeLorean must have really been amazed at the effort people like us put forth to preserve these cars.
Good job on the package tray by the way!

I am very impressed that they came in undamaged, I remember the panels my buddy received for his 66 Rustang had a bunch of dimples in it from shipping. They were made in china so I guess taht may have been the problem, lol. GOod luck with the hanging...

The lower windshield channel from that same car is solid also. Shocking considering how bad the rest of the car was. glad that piece worked out for you. it looks VERY good. Chris

Keith,
Keep us up to date on the new quarters. I have been trying to get info about these quarters for weeks. I was told they were out of stock. How full is full. Sorry I can't tell by the pics. Thanks for your help. Renee' |

Keith,
The smart a.. Joe at Dynacorn is playing stupid and says that they have never had 1/4's for the '68. Are you using the ones for the '69? Isn't the only difference the vent in the door? If so, that 1/4 you have is perfect for what I need. I've got a convertible but we can play with that. Thanks for your help. My problems may be solved. Renee' |

I think Joe has his wires crossed, the quater's will work on a '69 LeMans, the only difference is that the '69 has the vent's ,these are identical to the factory quater's I cut off,no vent hole,Pontiac crest marker light hole's,if you are going to modify the quater's for a convertible, make sure you take alot of reference measurement's,and photo's you probably know already but,you will have to replicate the contour for the opening so it will clear the power top mechanism,I believe there was a discussion on this a few month's back, if you look from the rear ,and compare the convert to the hard top,it appears that the convert is wider.
