Well the car starts fine and runs fine.

When I press the gas pedal to take off it sometimes revs, then sometimes the revs drop then go up and sometimes it just dies. It's a manual tranny and it feels like I'm not giving it enough gas when taking off.

I've been driving for about 20 years and this makes me feel like a learner again when it catches me at stop lights.

When it's moving it drives fine. No hesitation, no jerking like it has a fuel problem, pulls strong like it used to. It did however die when I was changing down a gear once. I was going into second just before a turn and it cut out on me. I'm assuming due to the gas pedal being released letting the revs go back to idle. But this also left me with no power steering and wishing I'd worked out my arms more to avoid hitting anything.

Now is this something simple that I'm missing or could I even set something to increase the revs a little at idle to stop it cutting out.

We're hoping to trade it in for a newer car in a couple of months so I really don't want to spend too much money on it.

Hello. First get some good carb cleaner and clean any carbon buildup on the throttle plate and make sure the bore around the plate is clean also. While your in that area, check the throttle position senser wiring at the connector. I've seen broken wires at this area due to a sharp bend at the connector. Hope this helps.
