Default 68 GTO Solar Red (PPG)

Hello all, I went to my local paint store today and enquired about the 68 Solar Red (base-clear). He told me that the original Solar went to Matador red, but wasn't available in base-clear. There was a note in his book that a color called (Tabasco red) was available as a base-clear. Well he mixed me a 2oz sample and I don't like it, too dark and a slightly milky haze to it. What are others doing for the (solar) red......

Thanks

Tabasco Red is a VW color (look at some of the new bugs to really see how it looks) I have used it in PPG and it is very close to correct. A 2oz sample is way too small to mix the tints properly. You need a 1/2 pint (8oz). Do a three coat spray out and clear it. It will look just fine.

steveopolus -- Can't say I have ever seen a RED bug. I too was wondering how he could mix such a small amount and be accurate, but he said no problem. I'll get with him again this morning.

Thanks
