Talking Machine Shop in MO

Anyone know of a good "Pontiac" machine shop in Mid-Missouri?

Don't know about a "Pontiac" guy but John Singer in Tipton, Missouri
has been building excellent race engines for over 40 years.

He has almost every tool in his shop except for a crank grinding machine.

I'll second MBJ Performance. I don't think you'll find better.

Tom, my father-in-law lives in Tipton. I'll have to look up that shop next time I'm there.

I called this shop and talked with Jim. He quoted 4-5k to rebuild my 400. He talked about everything they do and said it would be blueprinted and balanced. He also stated he offers no warranty but stands behind his work. Does this price seem reasonable? He did not mention what brand or parts would be replaced. He mentioned he was well known among the GTOAA here.

Allied machine shop in St. Charles did a very good job on my 455. Ronnie Sr. is the one to talk to out there, don't have the number off hand.

I see you are close to St. Louis. Do yourself a favor and take a road trip to Tulsa, OK. Go and see Len Williams, He specializes in Pontiacs. Shop number is 918-836-7583.

I have not had an engine built in many years. I admit 4-5k sounds a bit pricey. Jim's not the cheapest for sure. But, he doesn't cut corners either. He absolutely stands behind his work. You'll find cheaper but not better. It comes down to you. How good does it have to be? I personnally have gone the cheaper route, and was not happy. Jim's engines last when others would fail. That's my opinion. He ran his shop for many years with no sign out front. That alone speaks volumes about his reputation.

You're not far, relatively speaking, I would offer that you call Tom Wilhite of Derby Ks, if nothing else to get an idea. He races Pontiacs and is the Tech Advisor for Wichita Ks GTO club. His number is 316-788-0514. He is involved Fri-Sun in putting on the Pontiac Uprising, so he might be hard to get ahold of til Monday. He's done work for me and I've toured his shop at home - he's Good! Cap

I will see if my brother knew him. He used to live in Tipton.

A very small town of about 1300 people.
