Cool `69 JUDGE correct antennas

OK i need some clearing of my confusion here.
Whats the deal with correct antennas????? meaning ive seen several styles, but which is truely correct???

i believe that a FENDER mounted antenna is oval with an oval tip for a 69
but on convertables ive seen oval with a rounded tips.

IS this another one factory used the rounded tip & otheres used the oval tips??????

can someone clear this up for me
there is an oval with round tip on the BAY for $250.00 what is going on here?

Original '67-69 Pontiac A-body antennae mast were slide in style with a nut & oval tipped & grooved. Oval tipped with no grooves & the round ball style are aftermarket. Millions of aftermarket replacement masts were made in the late 60's & early '70's & they often show up for sale today.

And all you need is somebody coming up to you at a show and telling you that you have the wrong antennae!

63 and EARLY 64 used oval masts that bottle necked at the top section and went round with a round tip (ball). They had a forked base. It possibly "might" be one of those on eBay.

Mid 64 - end of 66 used oval mast with grooved oval tip. Base was forked.

67 68 69 all used the round base (stob) with oval mast, and grooved oval tip. Some later GM replacements were oval mast with oval tip but no groove in the tip. If someone balked about no groove at a show - could tell them you have a groove in the crack of yer @$$ if they wanna see that instead.

Like OPH said, aftermarket replacements were made also, but never seen or been aware of any being dead on the money as factory. Anything that is oval mast with oval tip and correct base for your application would be a good find regardless of origin and groove.

If anyone wants to spend some money, I might could persuade a friend to put a 100% correct 67-69 NOS sectional oval mast, oval tip-grooved with lower collar on eBang.

Where are the grooves supposed to be on the tip-around the edge of the circumference?

SAWYER: Any effort I would make to describe the tip might just make it more confusing. Will try to find a good pic to post.

For what it's worth : single groove around the center - outside edge of tip.
