Anyone have a solution to replacing the gasket that goes between the steering column base and firewall? None of the resto places seem to carry a gasket for the second gens (first gen is available) and I am sure GM doesn't carry it anymore.

There is a guy on E-bay that offers this part and it is pretty good. A friend just bought one from him. You can buy direct and don't have to use E-bay. I will get the info and post it here later tonight.

I got a question. I have a 73 firebird and have a shot of getting a column with tilt wheel from a 76, will I be able to swap then with no problems such as the electrical plugs?

no, not as far as i can remember.

i tried to swap out a column from a 75 or 76 into a 70 and it didnt fit.

IIRC, it was longer, and it had the wheel cocked 90* out. the rag joint may be able to be rotated that 90* to cure that, im not sure of that is keyed in any way. im still not sure if it will fit properly being longer and all.

the harmonica connector will most likely be different, in terms of wiring. however, that should be "overcome-able" with a schematic and a terminal tool.
