I'll admit its eye-catching...just getting a little tired of being inundated by outrageously shiny cars/parts.

Dont like the rig but the paint looks cool like a shiny new penny.

That would be very eye catching at night! But it would probably be painful in bright sunlight...

I have the system in my shop to do this. It is actually a catalized chrome plating with a topcoat. Pretty expensive deal for that rod.

cool!
a flame job (if its even possible for the process) would look killer over a primered rod.

Any more info on this painting process? That color is awesome. Looks like copper plating.

It is actually a catalized chrome plating. It was top coated with a translucent Kandy to get the orange color. Its pretty cool stuff, and pretty pricey to get done. Materials are pretty steep for it.

MHR- that Yanko Nova is a sweet car for not being a Pontiac. Did you restore that one?

You would have to do the chrome first then back mask and paint over top. Its almost impossible to do a chrome grafix over nice paint as its really messy.

MHR, would you be willing to give a ballpark $$$ number on just how "pricey?"
Like as in compared to a BC/CC with cut & buff, how much more would the catalyzed chrome with kandy tint deal cost on an A body size car? I think it looks awesome, would like to see some full size cars in other colors, including BLACK! Thanks

Not to sound like a prick, just saying is all. I recently purchased paint for my funny car, to the tune of $940. This was just for all the colors. I had already spent $500 for primer and fiberglass materials for the prepwork. The Viper Red alone was $182 per quart. From the way MHR describes the process, it sounds like they are chrome plating the sheetmetal. This is pricey in itself. Then they're painting a translucent color over it? Can you say "ca-ching ca-ching $$$"?
