Unhappy Valve adjustment question

My brand new engine has been sitting on the stand for a year now with the valves adjusted. I have read that this is not good. SHould I replace the cam and lifters or is it just a slim chance that there will be problems? It seems alittle too late to me to loosen things up? Or am I wrong? Thanks again JamesG

You really didn't indicate whether hydraulics or solids. Hydraulics would most probably bleed down--no problem. Solids, depending on spring pressure might be an issue. If it were me, I'd try it as it is. You could also pull springs and recheck open and closed spring pressure--this may give you some peace of mind. Good luck..... Bill
