I'd say between $500-$750.
The small carrier offers less than the 3 or 4 series. Good luck!

You have to be carefull with Olds 12 bolt rears. With an Olds rear you have to count the bolts on the ring gear inside the carrier. The 12 bolts on the back mean nothing on an Olds. For a true 12 bolt the ring gear should have 12 bolts holding it into place, a true 10 bolt will have 10 bolts holding the ring gear. So it is possible for the Olds rear to have 12 bolts holding the rear cover on, but when you unbolt it, count the bolts holding on the ring gear, 10 it is a 10 bolt, 12 it is a 12 bolt.
Hope this helps, Mark

maybe a 12 bolt for a big OLDS is around the value of a big Pontiac posi?
I have a drum to drum complete 2.93 posi from a 1970 Bonneville I bought for $425 from Franks Pontiac's in San Diego a few years ago plus I paid $170 freight. I ran it for less then one summer and it runs out just fine but the brakes should be gone thru. I went to another rear end so if any of you guys want it you can have it for only $425 plus you pay the freight from zip 99206. Paul

In a '68 Olds Delmont 88, what rearend you have depends on what engine the car originally had. 350 Delmonts got the 8.5" Olds 12-bolt (10-bolt ring gear). 455-powered cars had the 9 3/8" 12-bolt (12-bolt ring gear). They look very similar from outside, so pull the cover to be sure what you have. The 8.5" unit has good gear and posi availability, but the 9 3/8" is a junkyard availability-only piece. 3-series posis and gears are very rare for the big Olds rear.

Can you either get a pic of the info stamped on the side of the ring gear, or re-count the teeth? I'm thinking the pinion probably has 13 teeth instead of 12, which would make it a 3.23 ratio. There was no 3.50 ratio in an Olds rearend. I think the big-car gears were usually 2.56, 2.93, 3.23 or 3.42. If its a 3.23, I may be interested in just the carrier and gears.
