Oil wise, I'd recommed a good deisel oil like Delo 15W-40 which has plenty of good zinc which is important for a good break in. I'd cap it off with a bottle of GM EOS as well for the first 500 miles. Do a cam breakin for 20 minutes first then change the oil.

Nice thanks, ive had a few people inform me tho that there are 2 different ways to brake a motor in, first let the motor run at 2-3 grand for about 30-40 min and another said just o drive it around but keep it below 60 mph.

What SD73 said, then.... drive it like you would at the track....make sure the cops aren't watching though.

My method requires a divining rod, a faith healer and 3 midgets with Shetland ponies but I'm a little odd (as I'm sure others will attest to).

I'd recommend the same, 20 minutes with Rotella or some such oil since the zinc issue has reared its ugly head. The EOS or STP is a nice safety margin. Keep a hose and fan handy to keep it from getting too hot during break in. Change the oil and drive it.

Just to be clear, I'd always run an oil with good zinc levels even after break-in if you have a hydraulic cam.
