No. When I got the call the original owner was ready to sell, I had my boss's father in mind. He has been wanting to buy one for years now. A couple of months ago he made a deal with someone in Utah and flew out there with the money to buy it. It was sold out from under him literally hours before he got there. So I gave him first shot at it.
If he had not bought this one, my brother and I were going to. It needs some work, but it's numbers matching throughout, with a little over 60K miles.

Actually it all came off real easy! Musta been a special property of cured crap! Actually it was probably the industrial size Karcher Heated Power Washer they use for cleaning semi trucks that did it. It only took me 5 years to get it to the state its in now. Yes, I did submit a pic to cars in barns a few years ago.

Found my 78 Trans Am at a small local junkyard. I originally stopped there to look at a 78 that he had parked by the road. It was a t-top car that was pretty rusted out. He came out and told me that it was already sold but he had another one sitting out back.

Turns out he was the original owner of this TA and it had been sitting for 15 years. He used to go out every week and start it up but he had health problems a few years ago and didn't mess with the TA anymore. The car is all original and in really great shape. The only rust was on the driver side fender and a couple of small holes in the trunk and floor. It has hail damage from sitting outside though. The motors was locked up from water getting into the carb from a bad shaker seal but it broke loose finally.

I paid too much for the car but it was local and bought new at our local Pontiac dealership in '78 and that meant a lot to me. I nicknamed it blackberry cuz it had blackberry vines growing through the grills.

Well here is my contribution to the this thread. I am a 2nd Gen Trans Am guy through and through. I have had my 78 Trans Am for 17 years. I had been looking for an early 70-74 project Trans Am for some time when I came across this car just 5 miles from my house. Basically I was coming home from taking my 2 year old daughter to the park when she fell asleep in the truck. I decided to ride around awhile and let her nap. I was just driving through neighborhoods I had never been in before when I looked over and spotted this 1974 Trans Am sitting in someones backyard.

I left notes and came by the house several times, never anyone home and always left a note. I finally gave it up as another "I ain't gonna sell her, gonna fix her up one day as soon as I get that settlement" stories.

Then out of the blue some 10 months later, A guy called me, he had lost interst and was ready to sell it. I rushed over to look at it, and I couldn't believe how straight a body it had. Only rust issues were lower rear quarters and some small holes in the tail panel and trunk from water leaking into it. Floors, rockers, everything else were near perfect, not so much as a door ding. All flares on it except front driver, perfect shaker, valence, grilles. orig rally II's. It was a factory 455 car, however the orig motor was gone, replaced with a 75 400.

So expecting him to want a kings ransom, I asked and he said he wanted $1000.00 for it. I wrote him a check and it now sits in my garage as I am slowly getting it dissassembled for paint and body. Here are a few photo's of the way it looked when I found it sinking in the yard.

there are some photos of it in the thread "lets see those 70-73 birds" but there has been alot more done since then i will post pics of it when i get updated photos from some changes i did recently.
The photo in the thread is when i just got it on the road and was excited to drive it, took it right to a local car show and won peoples choice out of 600 cars and it still was not fully completed
