Is the fan shroud from a 78TA the same as a 75? If its not will it fit?

I'm not positive but I would say yes they are the same.

fan shroud are the same since 70 untill 1976 for sure. after, i know there were some different, but i don't know exactly when it change. maybe 1979

I have a fan shroud from a 79 for my 75 and they match up identically.

Pontiac V8 fan shrouds are interchangeable from 1970-81 but there are several revisions. Around the middle 70's a removable lower section(attached with plastic trees) was added to make it easier to access the crankshaft dampener bolt from underneath the car. Then when the 265/301 Pontiac engines became available in the Firebird(1979?) there was a square hole added on the top left for a support bracket used on the overflow water bottle.

Thanks for pointing out something that I had previously over looked. Just checked two of my 74 FB fan shrouds, the earlier one (Nov. 73 part 10011265 SD-455 with a/c 4 tube rad.) has the elongated cut out along the bottom of the fan circle & the square hole on the top passenger side. I never knew that there was suppost to be a piece attached in that opening. The second shroud, (Feb 74, 400 a/c 3 tube, & no visible part # but clearly some irregular cuts to the bottom of the fan circle.) I always assumed was different because the legs that go under the radiator were shorter. As I looked closer I was obvious that someone had cut the plactic legs off or the shroud. From your discription it appears that the one with the part# & factory cutout may be a later replacement, rather than the original. Any comments!
