can anyone tell me how to remove & replace the dash on my 80 Trans Am , i want to replace my old dash it's shot but i don't know how to do that. i want to know how difficult or easy it is before i jump into it please let me know.

It takes a lot of time and paitaince, small hands and a good memory, but it really isn't that bad. Start with the gauges, then the heat controls, then the bolt on plastics and you should be ok.

The hard part is finding a good dashboard. Some people are using dash caps and are very happy with them, so you may want to check them out also.

I would get a cap and forget about it. Most likely you will have to lossen the bolts for the steering column and let the column drop down a good 1/2" or so for the dash to come out.
Like jbjx2 posted, take your time and pay close attention to where everything is. I recomend taking pics with a digital camera to refer to just in case you might forget something.

Tooke me about 2 hours to get the dash outa my 80 turbo car....Remove steering colum bolts and steering wheel and drop it down, remove gauges, reove glove box insert, remove heater control knobs, and radio and change holder if equipped, then comes the hard part.....my windshield was busted out so it made getting the lil screws on the top easy, I think it had lil screws there...the last 74 I pulled a dash pad out of did not however, then get under the dash area and feel around for screws and start pulling...its not too hard....You can find good dash pads in the junk yard, I sold one on here that was near mint for 250.00 and it took me about an hour to get it out...all the rest of the stuff had been removed tho :P
