All the car pictures that I see have BFGoodrich tires on them.
What is wrong with the Goodyears??

Did everyone jump on the ban-wagon with the BFGs? Or is Goodyears not as good.

HMMMMMMMM so BFG. look better Okay . I have Dunlop Gt Qualifiers i think they look great, and on wet pavement have better grip . So a consumers report says. I truely believe that it is checking what tire is best for your driving habits. I have 245/60/15 on the back and 215/65/15 on the front with American racing wheels torque thrust "D" with the GTO centers. Just my .02

I have just found that BFG are more appealing on my car than Goodyears, not to say i wouldn't run goodyears but the 295/50-15 eagle gt-II does not have a nice tread pattern or sidewall writing, thats my opinion anyways.. I am however looking for a replacement for the BFG's if someone has a suggestion. Will be running 315/60-15 drag radials soon.

I just purchased a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires for my 67 GTO.
I plan to mount them on Rally 1 wheels.
I had a set of BFG tires for 3 years, no real complaints during that time.
I just wanted something different this time around.

I selected the Firehawk Indy 500 as well, here is a picture if them mounted on my almost complete 66. Tirerack quality ratings had them rated pretty high. Plus the price was right.

Kate's: I last bought Dunlops for mine way back when, for the same reasons you did. Published wet skidpad ratings were high.

On the way to Woodward in 2003 it rained very heavy between London and Sarnia. I was driving the Olds at 60 mph on the 402, the car started to hydro plane(sp), that is when i said i need better tires with grip when it rains out. So i did a consumers search and found that Dunlop Gt Tires had very good grip on wet pavement, so that is the reason i replaced the tires on the GTO and Olds with Dunlops. ( for safety reasons) Mine and others on the road. It rained all the way to Warren , the wipers on the Olds decided not to work good thing i put rain X on just before leaving. When i got to the Courtyard it quit raining so i whacked the wiper motor with a tire iron away went the wipers. That is what happens when do not use something, you lose it when you most need them.

I attached a comparison table from Tirerack.com. The higher the rating, the better. As you can see most of the tires are very comparable it just depends on the look, safety, and cost you are looking for.

I have never had very good luck with Goodyears lasting more than 30k miles on anything I have ever had them on. I always kept them rotated and balanced, and they just never impressed me as a long term tire. The cost of them also was a factor in not purchasing them too.
BFG's in comparison last just as long (actually, I have had them for almost 45k on my truck), and are cheaper. On the old cars, they look great, and have a wonderful aroma when smoking. Mmmmmm.

I have the older version of Firestones on my 66 GTO, the Firehawk SS/20's on Rally 1's

225 - 70 - 15 Front
255 - 70 - 15 Rear

Love 'em - when I'm done frying these will definately replace with newer Firestones
