I believe it might be a good idea for one of the more knowledgable dudes to chime in on this one, 'cause to ME it appears that there's NO WAY this distributor is a restamp.

Yes, the "1112" appears to be a deeper stamping than the "126". But the font is the same and the machining marks on the housing are undisturbed. So . . . my theory, which Chris and I discussed while he was at my shop, is that at least on a SR distributor the first four PN characters were "pre-stamped" and the final three characters - which would determine the exact application - were stamped when the piece was assembled.

Secondly, Chris is a stand up guy and no way he's trying to sell a re-stamped part. Besides all that, I doubt anyone was restamping '72 distributors 24 years ago when Chris removed it from an engine.

Sorry, I should have snapped some pics yesterday, but I forgot to and it's still at the shop. I'll try to snap some pics on Monday and post them here.
