yup, you will get better mileage on the freeway
look to classic chevy 5-speed for a tko with overdrive
they have kits with every part needed to swap it over, my friend just installed his kit from them last week and everything went great (and the new trans is amazing)

Default thx

I called them and all they have is tranny's if you want to convert to a 5 speed manual. I would like to keep it an automatic? Do you think a 700R trans. would fit?

Yes, I believe a 700R4 will fit, but I think you will have to modify (shorten) your drive shaft. You might also check into a 2004R auto. I think this is a smoother swap than a 700. If memory serves me, it will should swap in about like a th350. Check out www.firstgenfirebird.org and do a search on the subject. There has been quite a bit of discussion on this swap there.

Good Luck, Bruce
