After having my rear disc brake calipers powdercoated so they wouldn't rust (the powdercoat was ground off in the contact areas btw) I just got done installing the front ones, and they were a snap...

However, trying to reinstall the rears has been an absolute nightmare!

First off, the kit I have for the rear is from Ames Performance, if that helps.

This is the big issue I'm having...the two brackets that mount onto the caliper for the emergency brake line...how do they bolt on to the caliper and in what fashion? I took them off and me being Mr. Intelligent, I failed to document how they were installed before removal. Now I can't remember how they go back on!!! And how in the heck does the emergency brake cable and srping mount back on again? I took the c clips off and now I can't find them... .

Also to add injury to me once again, when I tried to reinstall one of the brackets that mounts onto a stud on the rear driver's side caliper...I tried to tighten the dolt that fastens it onto the stud...that in the process of doing this...the inner components of the caliper greeted me in the chest as they sprang out of the caliper like a jack in the box...the spring decompressed in my stomach and the inner workings fell in my lap.

So on top of that, now I've got to shove it back in there. It's basically a shaft that screws into the setup that goes into the real caliper, compressed by a spring. I wrestled with it for an hour, and every blasted time I nearly got it in...when I went to put the bolt back on to hold it in place the shaft spiraled back down into the base piece where I couldn't reach???

Any ideas...they fronts were a snap but the rears are a royal headache...and I've got to get my frame back on all fours to leave for the bodyshop so it can be mated with the body next week!

Last resort--leave the rear brakes apart while you transport the frame. Put the axles in and go.
