Question 71-72 Lemans front signal light panel, same??

Hi, I have a 72 Lemans that does not have the chrome type front bumper. The front signal light panel was missing when I purchased it.

I have found a 71 Lemans parts car that has the chrome type front bumper.

Does anyone know if the front signal light panel is interchangable on 71-72 Lemans?

Is the interior interchangable as well(door panels, dash, steering etc)?

Also, who is a good supplier for restoration afer market parts? My supplier only carries parts up to 1969.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Ukonjack

Sounds like you have a T-41 (endura nose) option which is the same as the GTO. The turn signal area (better known as splash panel) is different from those on the non endura nose cars. Round vs more square/rectangle. See the Grill thread in this area and then look at GTO pics and you can seee the difference. '71/'72 are the same for Endrua. '71/'72 non endura noses are the same. Some '72's are pot metal some are fiberglass nose pieces and on '72 the splash panel is chrome and '71 are painted. Otherwise size/shape are the same for the non endura nosed cars.

Welcome to the boards and ask away. We are all trying to help each other.

Thanks for the info. I believe I will get the 71 for parts car anyway. It has front disc brakes and bucket seat interior. Also a decent rear bumber that I need.

I have to keep looking for the correct front splash panel.

Standard nose (chrome bumper) '71 & 72 LeMans used different core supports. The leading edge of the top panel of a '71 LeMans core support has to hacked up with a cutoff wheel or sawsall to accept the '72 steel header panel. Have drilled out spot welds & restored several '71 core supports with "new" tops. Have a few more to finish, mainly '72 endura coresupports.

The splash pan is known as a valance panel. Nice dent free are VERY tough find. Still a few nos ones out there, but expect to pay.
