Just curious about something. I once owned a 1969 GTO that was palladium silver with a black vinyl top. I bought it in 1984 and sold it in 1991 to a UPS driver in Brookfield, Wisconsin. I heard it went to Iowa, but lost track of it. I always wondered what happened to that car. I went looking for it and ended up with a few Judges. It had hideaways, auto, air, etc. Great car and I'd love to know what ever happened to it.

I posted this in the LOBBY but thought it might get more coverage here (sorry if its the wrong forum). If the owner can be locted, I'd love to share some stories and information on the restoration of the car. I believe it was originally ordered out of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

A few years ago I looked at a Palladium Silver w/ black vinyl top '69 GTO west of Monroe, Wisconsin. It was a Judge though, and had blue interior. I got the PHS for that car, but never bought it.

When I owned the car, it had about 49K miles. It was in fantastic original condition. For my graduation gift from HS, my parents had a very good restoration shop do a modest amount of body work and spray the car original colors. It still had the factory top.

I was 16 years old and, for whatever reason, could not even bring myself to cut the dash to add a stereo. Even then, I was a bit of a purist. The guy in Brookfield (don't know his name) was also a purist. Come to think of it, I must have sold the car in about 1988 and it was in immaculate condition. The only thing I remember was a tear in the driver's seat. It had a black interior.

I don't this car ever became a little rough. I sold it with only 65K miles or so. I heard the rumor that it made it into a Pontiac magazine and was owned by a high school principal in Dubuque.

I did some dumb things (remove the original spiral shocks), but at the time, I only had a motorcycle and the GTO. I made it through winters by driving the bike. The goat never saw a flake of snow when I owned it.

The car was ordered by a physician in Green Bay for his wife. He ordered all of the luxury items but not really the performance things.

Always hoped to see the car again.

Do you have access to the Vin # on the car?? If you do, I have some connections with the various Departments of Public Safety including Iowa. I can have them run the Vin # and see if it is currently registered in Iowa. If you do not have anything with the Vin #, call your old insurance agent that held the insurance for the car back in the 80's and see if the have anything on file. If you get a vin, you can PM me with it or e-mail it to me at [email protected] and I'll see what I can do.

Tell us some more. A friend purchased a very similar if not the same car from a fellow in South Carolina. Optioned as you mentioned. Probably not the same car, but it is possible.

If I failed to mention, the car did have hide-a-ways, power windows, remote mirror, radio, I think it was called the vanity package (with glove box light, mirror on the sun visor, etc.). The headlights worked perfectly. I remember repainting the air cleaner with probably the wrong colored black paint and used a yellow primer (I was 16).

I did exactly as you guys recommended. My insurance agent, who is still a family friend, did not keep records when they went to full computer storage. I have searched my parents house for old insurance papers and found nothing. I remember my bank payment for the car was $89.00 per month and I worked shamelessly at McDonalds to pay for that beloved car. The bank says it does not keep records after 8 years.

I think PHS would show that the car was delivered to a dealer in Green Bay. Otherwise, I will try to find VIN number but I just don't know the chances. If the owner can be found, I have some really cool old photos that I would love to send him or her.
