Unhappy whats that noise under my 65 gp

does anyone know why there is a grinding noise coming from under neath the center console when there is more than three people in my car.if anyone knows please help.

A screw or bolt hitting the propeller (drive shaft) when added weight is in the car. Perhaps there is one that is too long. Did you add any non-standard items which required bolting to the floor?

no nothing the transmission was slipping so i took it to aamco to get it fixed and thats when it started.they told me i need new motormounts,changed those and the noise is still there.

Take a look at the top of the driveshaft tunnel directly over the front universal joint. You will probably see rub or scrape marks from the driveshaft hitting the body. I had trouble with a replacement trans mount on our '65 2+2 that carried the correct part number, but ended up being much taller than the original mount. This puts the driveshaft higher in the tunnel to where it would hit the body whenever I carried passengers.

Same problem would occur if someone tried to jack on the crossmember - it's surprising how easily they will bend and change shape.

Best solution is to replace the mount with the correct lower one. another solution is to tweak the crossmember down a little in the middle to give more room between the driveshaft and top of the tunnel.
