Guys, I salvaged a 1978 TA with a WS6 handling package. I have a gentleman who has a 1970 FB that is interested in the sway bar. Will it fit his car? I also have the quick ratio steering box. Will that fit ANY F body, and will it also fit any G body without serious modifications? It would help me sell it if it fits Firebirds, Camaros, Chevelles, and GTO's without a bunch of trouble.....please respond with any information to [email protected] Thanks!

well those steering boxes are pretty much all the same from what i have read
but the only cars i know they fit are first gen camaros and birds, others probably the same but i am not 100%

The WS6 steering box is from a 78 TA- definitely second generation.... Will it fit other GM products, like Camaros in the 70-81 years (F-bodies), as well as early Chevelles and GTO's (G-bodies)?

Same old stuff--the box will physically bolt into pretty much any GM car made after 1965, except the little ones. The pitman arms for power boxes fit all power boxes, but they're different between F-bodies and everything else. The rag joint changed about '78 or '79, can't remember exactly so you need to look for that. The hoses changed from SAE flare to metric O-ring in the same period so that has to be checked. You can get the correct parts to make it work without too much trouble.
The bar fits '64-'72 A-bodies perfectly, but I don't think it will fit early F-bodies.

If it was an actual WS6 box it is a straght ratio not variable ratio like most "plain" TA and Z 28 boxes were. Hoses changed around 80-81 to the metric O ring style. They will physically bolt to to most GM chassis I believe evemn early A bodies. But that type box has internal stops that might or might not allow the wheels to turn correctly.

Real WS6 front sway bars had hard nylon outer link bushings originally in place of rubber. Rear sway bar was bigger also. About the only way to tell a WS6 car.

Your stuff should be a straight bolt in for any 70-79 F-body. The bar and box will work with the 68-72 GTO but the stops are different in the box and will decrease turning radius. Also the brackets that hold the bar to the front frame on the GTO will have the holes slightly further apart than the holes in the GTO bracket so they may not line up without redrilling two of the holes in the frame. I used allen head bolts I think to make it fit my 69 GTO without drilling.
