My angle grinder just died, and I have to say, it wasn't that good to begin with. I am looking at sanders, and pnematic grinders, die grinders, etc.

What is the best tool to use for rust removal?

I have used the heck out of my 4 inch electric grinder from Harbor Freight. I use a high speed twisted wire cup for most of my rust removal. For smaller things I use my air die grinder.

One of the best things I have found it a tool from Snap-On called the Crud thug. Comes with two different coarseness brushes and you can even remove heavy undercoating with it. But it's quite pricey at just under $400 and a box of 5 brushes at $85.

400 bucks eh, wow.... Don't think I want to afford that yet. I may have to get another better grinder as well as a die grinder.

Yeah with that kind of price tag it puts it out of the range of most DIY'ers. Which is too bad because it is a really good working tool.

My dad's got a 4" Milwaukee right-angle grinder that gets the crap used out of it back on the farm and there hasn't been a single problem with it. We've had nothing but good to say about their product. It has more power than the Makita we have too.
