Talking 8-71 blown pontiac engine on alcohol

Hi, just wondering if anybody has ever run a blown pontiac engine on alcohol and what were the pro's and cons. i have a 6-71 blown 400 engine in my 74 firebird, right now, and it runs great but in the future i was considering building a 455 with a 8-71,with carbs, that would operate on alcohol,i know about the fuel line size having to be increased, and a alcohol compatible fuel pump, along with the anodized fuel lines, anything else? how well do the carbs work with alcohol?

Street or strip?

Paul Spotts runs an alcohol(methanol) injected 6-71 on top of a 467ish cid with d port heads in his FED. It is all business 7.20s at 191. The Kinsler injection seems very basic with a mechanical cam driven pump and bug catcher. Awesome power for the track.

If your car is for the street, stay with gas. If we had E-85(ethanol/gas) in our area I would try that on a blower/carb combo.

i am not aware of anydoing that on the street. and not taking anything away from paul. alex heller would be someone else to consult. ran an awsome blown alcohol ram air V flat bottom v-drive boat in the 80's. not sure what he's doing these days. lived in michigan at the time.
