Outstanding example of deluxe sandlewood interior. I don't know if the carpet is the correct color but it sure looks nice. I think everything else is correct. My car came originally with this interior but it was changed to black somewhere along the way. However, I cleaned the black paint off the interior panels and they are the same colors of the interior on this car. The dash, kick panels and console should be dark (medium sandlewood) and everything else should be the lighter color. It sure is pretty when it's done well.
FYI, my dash was never changed to black and it remains the original color. The panel under the steering column did not age the same as the dash and has lightened up over time, and looks just like the lower panel in the Barrett-Jackson car. As for the steering column, on my t/a it's black, but on almost all the Formula's I have seen with sandlewood interior the column is painted the lighter interior color. According to the Barrett-Jackson site it sold for $35,100. I don't know if that includes the buyers fee or not.

Amazingly clean, Brewster! But what's with the skinny crimp-bent exhaust? Is that a stock setup or something?
If my car looked like that it would probably be 50 pounds lighter! Sam

Yeap, its a nos 1974 SD exhuast sytem that had resonators added to it to bring it to a 1973 spec. They didnt have a system available in 1973 so one had to compromise. Thanks for the comp,

These must be trailer Queens right??? I guess I would understand it but all the time I got in the 72 Formula and I have 2 other cars to work on next, I have to drive them!? Crap, roll the car off the trailer ...take a picture or two... back on the trailer...SHEEESH! John DeLorean is dead. Drive them...He would've!

It depends on what level you want your cars.
Sold the Formula so now I only have one to drive, and where the cost of these cars are going I shouldnt even do that, but I will. |

I know some won't believe me, but the T/A I have I've personally driven more then a million miles. I used it as my main transportation for like 8 years, have owned it since '81, and am on my 13th engine, countless trans's, countless rears, 2 partial restores, one full restore, and 5 paint jobs. I was getting about 125k out of each engine before I would rebuild them. Had a regular rotation going! The one roller engine I had I got 225k out of, doing a valve job and timing chain around 160k... As for on/off, if it was on, it was full-on and abused!

I bought my 70 trans am RAIII 4 speed car about two years ago from the second owner. He bought it used in 1973 with a little over 60,000 miles on it. When I bought it the seller told me it had 234,000 miles on it. He did a valve job and timing chain in the early 80's but he said the block has never been out of the car. It doesn't even smoke. I guess I'll find out if the engine is original when I restore the car. If it is, that seems like a lot of miles on the original bottom end.

Beautiful cars guys, could one of you take a pic of the shifter where the back drive linkage is located on the transmission, also the bracket that goes to the steering bracket on the frame?
