CAT cam gear drive
I`ve been offered a CAT gear drive but am not sure it would offer any benefits over a good chain and sprocket drive.Has anyone had any problems with geardrives?Many thanks to all who reply.

Agreed. Gear drives are noisy and offer no practical benefit over a quality timing chain in the vast majority of applications.

I'd like to add that if you're running a solid cam and a gear drive, you'll eat valve springs without a blower belt to dampen harmonics.

Based upon experience, the only good CAT part for our Pontiacs are the rods...and they need to be checked.
