46 heads ?
Hi folks ! I picked up a 73 Pontiac 350 2 barrel last weekend and was debating if I should keep them 46 heads or recycle them along with the 2 barrel intake ? Any suggestions ?

They'd need work to be suitable for a performance application.

as would any other Dport head, they are no better or worse to start with
I suggest you pick the head based on the combusion chamber size to get a the compression ratio you want then modify the head as you want (valves, porting, springs, etc)

kaufmans can port them for 500$. Thats to 240 cfm that can just about cover you to 500 hp.

I was looking at them tonight and realised that they need too much work, they are small valves heads and have no screw-in studs ! Too bad there is nobody around I can sell them to for a minimal amount, I am just going to use a set of 6X #4 or older big valves performance heads because the good news is: my 350 block has the chamfers reliefs to accommodate bigger valves like for example the 48 heads !!! Thanks guys !

I have a set on my 400. they have the larger 2.11 intake valves installed in them and the intake ports have been gasket matched and screw in studs. The car runs 12.7's in the 1/4 on BFG Radial TA's. If you have access to other heads that already have the bigger valves then you would be better off using those. If you dont mind spending a little money then the 46's will work fine.
